Step Out and Find Out

No Eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what Gos has prepared for those who love him.

                               --- 1 Corinthians 2:9

Perhaps God has been speaking to you about some changes in your life and you want  them, but you are afraid. I want to encourage you not to be afraid to step out. Even if you make a mistake, it won't be the end of the world.

Go through the doors He is opening. You may even have to take a few steps in some direction and see if a door previously closed will open as you approach it. Maybe you have a little direction from God, but you don't see the full picture. God leads step by step. He may never show you step two until you take step one. I am not advocating doing foolish things, but I do encourage you to find the balance between living in fear and living in wisdom.

God is progressive, and I have found that my faith is also. I may have a little faith, and so God shows me a little something to do. Then as I am faithful over the little thing, He shows me the next step, and by then, my faith has grown to be able to handle it.

Don't spend all of your life looking back and wishing you had tried different things or done things differently. Wondering what could have been is a lonely feeling. I can promise you that you will not enjoy everything you try. But at least you will have the personal experience of knowing. You won't have to live your whole life hearing about what everyone else is doing and wondering what it would be like. You are not going to be able to do everything, but step out in God's timing into the things you feel He is leading you into.

Oh,well

Cease from anger and forsake wrath;fret not yourself---it tends only to evildoing.
---Psalm 37:8

Whenever I find myself in a situation I can't do anything about, I have found that a good way to cast my care upon the Lord is simply to say ,"oh,well".

Take, for example, the morning that someone spilled his orange juice in the car and got a little of bit on your sweater. Immediately he said,"devil, I'm not impressed." and you said"oh, well." so that problem was solved, and we pressed forward with the rest of our day.

Some things just aren't worth getting upset about, yet many people do.unfortunately a large majority of Christians are upset, fretful, and full of anxiety most of the time.it is not the big things that get to them;it is the little things that don't fit into their plans.instead of casting their care and just saying,"oh,well," they are always trying to do something about something they can't do anything about. On more than one occasion that simple phrase"oh,well" has really helped to make it through.

The Holy Spirit as a Lifter

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter, that He may remain with you forever.
                     ---- JOHN 14:16
Do you know that even the ministry of the Holy Spirit is one of lifting up?Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He said to His disciples,'I am going to ask the Father to send the Holy Spirit upon you to be your Comforter.' The Greek word from which the word 'Comforter' is translated in this verse is parakletos, meaning 'called to one's side,ie.to one's aid.' In other words the Comforter is one who comes to stand alongside to encourage, edify, and exhort. Everything the Holy Spirit does is to keep us lifted up. He is our permanent' pick me up' to keep us from becoming depressed.

According to Webster's II new college Dictionary(1995), depress means: 1. To lower in spirits:SADDEN. 2.To Press down: LOWER. 3.To lessen the activity or the force of:WEAKEN.'

When Satan comes against you and me to depress us, he is trying to lower our spirits, sadden us, press us down, lessen our activity and force for God. He is trying to keep us from moving forward, because one of the synonyms of the word depressed is backward. Satan wants to use depression to 'pull our power plug.' to drive us backward, while God wants to empower us and propel us forward. The question is,are we pressing on or are we being pressed down?

Each one of us has to face and deal with disappointments and discouraging people and situations every day of our lives. However, we have been given the Holy spirit to help lift us up and see us through.

Keep Saing to Yourself

And there was a woman who had had a flow of blood for 12 years. And who had endured much suffering under many physicians and had spent all that she had, and was no better but instead grew worse. She had heard the reports concerning Jesus, and she came up behind Him in the throng and touched His garment. For she kept saying,If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health.
    --- Mark 5:25- 28

What about the woman with the issue of blood? She had been having the same problem for 12 years. She had suffered greatly, and no one had been able to help her. Surely this woman was being attacked with thoughts of hopelessness. When she thought about going to Jesus, surely she must have heard, 'what's the use?' But she pressed on past the crowd that was so thick on all sides that it was suffocating. She touched the hem of Jesus' garment, healing virtue flowed to her, and she was made well. But there is a part we don't want to miss:"For she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health."

She kept saying! She kept saying! Do you get it? She kept saying! No matter what she felt like, no matter how much others tried to discourage her, even though the problem was 12 years old, and the crowd looked impossible to get through, this woman got her miracle. Jesus told her that it was her faith that had made her whole. Her faith was released through her words. Faith has to be activated if it is to work, and one of the ways we activate it is through our words. Keep saying-- and don't give up hope!

Stay Supernaturally Relaxed

Come to Me, all You who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest.
                            -- Matthew 11:28

The longer we know the Lord, the more relaxed we should become when we face situations that try to steal our peace. Previous experience with God is valuable because we learn that somehow He always comes through. Each time we face a new crisis, we can remember that even though He may not have done exactly what we wanted Him to do, He always did something that worked out. Relaxing in the face of trials helps us to maintain our peace with God.

New believers who do not have personal examples on which to build their confidence in God must be more dependent on examples in the Bible of God's faithfulness. The testimonies of other believers can also greatly encourage them. Remember, Jesus said that we are to come to Him when we have problems, and He will give us rest.

Jesus wants us to live in a relaxed state, not tense, uptight, worried, or anxious about yesterday, today, or tomorrow. We can stop reasoning and trying to figure out what we need to do. And the Lord doesn't want us to be upset with other people who aren't doing what we want them to either.

Jesus wants us to trust Him and relax. I call this being supernaturally relaxed, because in the natural we may have difficulty learning how or finding time to relax. But when God adds His super to our natural, we end up with supernatural. We can have supernatural relaxation!Jesus was saying, 'Come to Me about anything, because I always want to help you with everything.' There's nothing too little and nothing too big to take to Him. You can't take too much. You can't have too many requests.

Finish What You Start

For We have become fellows with Christ and share in all He has for us, if only we hold our first newborn confidence and original assured expectation firm and unshaken to the end.
                                    ----- Hebrews 3:14

Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward.
                                          --- Hebrews 10:35

But we do desire for each of you to show the same diligence and sincerity in realizing and enjoying the full assurance and development of hope until the end.
                                               --- Hebrews 6:11

All of the scriptures above should be meditated upon and taken very seriously. God is not interested in our starting things that we never finish. It is easy to begin, but it takes great courage to finish. In the beginning of a new thing we get all excited. We have a lot of emotions( Ours and everyone else's) to support us. When the emotions wear off and all that is left is a lot of hard work and the need for extreme patience, we find out who really has what it takes to truly succeed.

In God's mind we are never successful if we stop somewhere along the way. He wants us to finish our course and do it with joy!If you have been tempted recently to give up-- DON'T!If you don't finish the thing you are currently involved in, you will face the same challenges in the next thing you start. Some people spend all their lives starting new things and never finishing anything. Let us make a decision that we will be more than people who never reached their full potential.

Laughter: Good Medicine

A merry heart does good, like medicine.
                                                                  Proverbs 17:22

Nick Gallo, in his better Homes and Gardens article titled ' Laugh Your Way to Good Health.' makes an observation that echoes what Solomon wrote thousands of years ago. Mr. Gallo said,' New research shows that humor is good medicine.-- And says that it's good for a person's cardiovascular system.

Comparing laughter to exercise, Gallo points out that when a person laughs heartily, several physical benefits occur. There is a temporary lowering of blood pressure, a decreased rate of breathing, and a reduction in muscle tension. He reports that many people sense a 'relaxed afterglow'. Gallo concluded, 'An enduring sense of humor, especially combined with other inner resources such as faith and optimism, appears to be a potent force of better health.'

Christians, above all others, should benefit from laughter because we have the greatest reason to be joyful. Our faith is firmly planted in God, and our optimism is based on the assurance that we are under His wise control.

Don't be afraid to enjoy a good laugh-- It's good medicine!

Who Do You Wrok For?

More than 2000 years ago a sculptor erected a statue in a Greek temple. He had spent much time perfecting it. When asked why he gave the same painstaking care to the back, which wouldn't be seen, as he did to the front, he replied,'that's the way I always work. Men may never see it , but I believe the gods do !'

How much greater reason Christians have for doing their work conscientiously! They labor not for applause nor merely for the joy of accomplishment, but they strive for the approval for their Creator and Redeemer, and for the blessing of mankind.

God created man with a mind and a body, and they function best when occupied with fruitful endeavor. Even before sin entered the world, He assigned Adam the task of tending the Garden of Eden. Work has become more difficult because of Adam's sin, but it is always honorable. Even the lowest type of service can be performed with the highest motive--that of honoring God. Labor done for His glory transforms common drudgery into a wonderful opportunity that brings joy and satisfaction.

Today, pause to consider Paul's admonition and determine anew to perform your daily tasks faithfully--'not with eye service, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.

The Big Piece

You may have heard the story of two friends who met for dinner in a restaurant. Each requested filet of sole, and after a few minutes the waiter came back with their order. Two pieces of fish, a large and a small, were on the same platter. One of the men proceeded to serve his friend. Placing the small piece on a plate, he handed it across the table.

'Well, you certainly do have nerve!'. exclaimed his friend. ' What's troubling you?' asked the other. 'Look what you've done.' he answered. 'You've given me the little piece and kept the big one for yourself.' 'How would you have done it ?' the man asked. His friend replied, 'if I were serving, I would have given you the big piece.'  'Well,' replied the man.' I've got it, haven't I?' At this, they both laughed.

Innate selfishness, however, is no laughing matter. When James and John asked Jesus for a prominent position in His kingdom, and the other 10 disciples heard it, they were indignant. We may presume that they too wanted to sit in the places of authority.

How often our old nature demands the big piece or the prominent place! We try to maneuver for positions of authority and leadership. Instead, we must follow the example of our Lord, who 'did not come to be served, but to serve'

Faith To Obey

Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord. So I bought the field
                     ---------- Jeremiah 32:8-9

A woman was married to a successful young businessman. He had a good reputation and an excellent income. Then he sensed that God was calling him to sell his business, go to Bible school, and enter missionary service. To his wife, it seemed foolish to give up so much. Yet she believed God wanted her to follow her husband's lead. She struggled within herself-- but found the faith to obey. Today they are experiencing God's blessing as he uses his skills in Brazil.

In our Bible reading today, Jeremiah bought a piece of real estate from his cousin Hanamel while Jerusalem was under siege. Jeremiah purchased the field even though he had already prophesied that the city was going to fall. This didn't make sense. Why buy property in a land that was about to be occupied by the enemy? Because God had told him to. The Lord used this incident to dramatize His promise that Israel would again possess that Land.(Jer.32:15)

We need that same willingness to obey the Lord even if it doesn't seem to make sense. If He gives a comand, our part is to believe Him and carry it out.

The issue may not be as dramatic for us. Sometimes it may seem pointless to be honest instead of deceitful, or to forgive rather than hold a grudge. But whatever God calls us to do, we need to faith to obey.

Jehovah- Jireh

Where God guides, He provides.

A young newlywed planned to entertain friends but lacked some of the things she would need. So she went to a neighbor to borrow them. After giving her the items, the woman asked, 'is that all you want?" Yes, I think so.' she answered.

Then her neighbor, who was an experienced hostess, handed her some additional items and said,' but you will need some of this, and that, and some more of these.' Later the young woman remarked, ' I was so thankful for someone who knew exactly what I needed and was willing to supply it.'

How well that describes God! In today's Scripture, Abraham said that the place where God supplied a ram for sacrifice should be called' Jehovah-Jireh' or ' The Lord Will Provide.' This phrase reveals God's character. He knows exactly what need and provides it at just the right time.

God has given us salvation through the sacrifice of His Son one the cross. But that's not all. He also provides power through the Holy Spirit so that we can do His will. ' He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"(Ro.8:32). The Lord will provide! That's good to remember when our needs seem to be overwhelming.

Ready Giver

According to a story I read, a wealthy man had a reputation for being stingy with his money. One day as he talked to the pastor of his church, he asked' why do people accuse me of being a miser even though they know that I have stated in my will that when i die all my money will be given to charity?'

The Minister responded by telling a fable about a pig and a cow. The pig complained that he couldn't understand why people liked cows more than pigs. He said' I know that you cows give milk to people. But we pigs give them bacon and ham.'  Yes'. said the Cow. 'that's true. But there's one big difference. We cows are glad to do our giving while we're living. You pigs only do your giving after you're dead.'

It certainly is commendable to include worthy because in our wills--but not at the expense of cheerful giving right here and now. If we fail to give generously because it would alter our lifestyle or conflict with our desire for things, we lose out on God's full favor. How pleased the Lord must have been when the Israelites gave so willingly and generously for the building of the tabernacle that Moses had to tell them not to bring any more!

Remember, the Lord loves cheerful givers. What kind of giver are you?

Never Too Old 永不太老

Satisfy us early with Your mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days!
                                                                                                 -----Psalm 90:14

Look at what some people have accomplished despite advancing age. When Grandma Moses was 100, she was still painting. George Bernard Shaw wrote a play at 94. Arthur Rubinstein gave a great recital at Carnegie Hall when he was 89. And at 82, Winston Churchill wrote a History of the English--Speaking People.

The Bible tells of many godly people who didn't let the advancing years stop them-- Caleb and Moses, for instance. At 80, Caleb was one of the men sent to spy out the land of Canaan, and later he was allowed to enter the Promised Land. And Moses continued to lead the people of Israel faithfully until he was 120. The secret of their success was faith in God and an attitude of steadfastness until God called them home.

There are many people who have lived far beyond the 70 years mentioned in Psalm 90:10. They are still bearing 'fruit in old age' by encouraging others and using their energy in God's service. Others, however, far younger, have decided to coast home.

As long as we have strength, we need to dedicate ourselves  to the Lord's service. Then, no matter what our age, we can 'rejoice and be glad'

It Hurts To Love

When Israel was a child, I loved him... My people are bent on backsliding from Me.

If you want to go through life with as little sorrow or pain as possible, don't love anybody. Every time you let yourself love, you open the door to pain. A person who falls in love and marries may shed many tears over the illness or death of the spouse. Parents who love their children will suffer many hurts as they watch them grow up.

We can spare ourselves much pain if we don't let ourselves become emotionally attached to anyone. But we will also miss out on some of the greatest joys in life. The more we love, the more we suffer. That's true. But the path of selfless love is also the path to some of our greatest joys.

In Hosea 11, God spoke of His love for Israel. He compared Himself to a father caring for a child.(vv3-4). But the people who should have brough Him joy caused Him pain instead. They rejected His love and guidance and did not honor him(vv5-7). God said He would discipline them, yet His sympathy was stirred and He promised He would not destroy the nation(v.9)

Loving others makes us vulnerable to hurt and disappointment, but the rewards are great. Let's choose to love in spite of the pain it may bring.

Thanks For Thorns

I take pleasure in infirmities,....in distresses, for Christ's sake.

To give thanks in every situation is sometimes very difficult. When our bodies are wracked by pain, or we have just learned that we have a physical problem for which there is no cure, or we have lost our job, or a cherished relationship has been broken, we don't feel grateful. But we can learn to thank God because He gives us strength when we feel weak.

That is why the apostle Paul could say, 'I take pleasure in infirmities,...in distresses, for Christ's sake.' and as believers, we can be grateful that through such experiences God is accomplishing what is best for us. Even through suffering He is working for our good

Scottish author and preacher George Matheson, who was blind, expressed this prayer:'I have thanked Thee a thousand times for my roses, but never once for my 'thorn'....teach me the glory of my cross; teach me the value of my 'thorn'. Show me that I have climbed to Thee by the path of pain. Show me that my tears have made my rainbow.'

As we surrender ourselves to the Lord and remember that He is working in everything to accomplish our ultimate good ,we can thank Him when we are pierced by 'thorns'

Last Day on Earth

Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts
                                                                                            ---Hebrew 4:7

What Would you do if you knew you had only one day left to live? That's what Gunther Klempnauer asked 625 young German students in 12 vocational schools. His findings revealed that 20% of the young men questioned would spend their last day on earth drinking, taking drugs, and pursuing young women.

A different response came from an 18 years old woman who wrote 'I would like to spend my last evening in church (to be alone with God) to thank Him for a full and happy life.'

Let me ask you: What do you think you'd do if you knew this was it -- your last 24 hours? If you are not a follower of Christ, the wisest things to do would be to trust Him as your Savior. Or if you are a Christian, you may need to take care of some unfinished business that could affect your heavenly rewards. Is there someone you need to apologize to? Do you owe anyone money, a visit, or just a word of encouragement? If it's within your power to act, now is the time to do it.

Sure, you may have many more years, but on the other hand, you may not. Why not act as if this day is your last? Now is always the best time to do God's will, because now is all you have for sure!

The Voice Of God

The Voice of the LORD is powerful
                                                                                                   -- Psalm 29:4

Secular society exalts science and man's ability to do almost anything. As a result, many people feel no need for God. Even if they believe He exists, they say that He is silent and cannot be known.

We are Christians need to be careful that we are not influenced by secular thinking. We should listen to what David said in Psalm 29. He made it clear that God has some impressive and undeniable ways to make us sense His presence. For instance, the thunder that rumbles over distant waters before it comes ashore is called' the voice of the LORD.' It reminds us that He is powerful and majestic.

What David was describing , of course, is an audible and visible expression of God's creative power. Unlike the dead idols that unbelievers trust, God reveals His presence in awe inspiring ways that are unmistakable if we listen with the ears of faith. For David, the voice of God was a call to worship the One who not only rules the universe but also gives 'strength to His people'

Do you sometimes feels that God is far off somewhere, removed from life? Then observe the lightning. Listen to the thunder. As David did, think of it as the voice of God speaking with great power and majesty.

The Longing

He would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.---Luke 2:26

Look at the people around you:the shoppers walking the malls hunting for last --minute Christmas gifts, the enthusiastic fans at football and basketball games, fellow employees in the workplace.Do you think they've found happiness?

As people rush through life--hurrying from paycheck to payment and from job to home and then doing it all over again-- many of them feel empty inside. They long for some think to make their existence more meaningful and fulfilling.

Unlike Simeon ,whom we read about in Luck, chapter 2, many people don't know what will bring happiness. the Holy Spirit had told Simeon that he would not die until he had been the promised Messiah. When that extraordinary day came and Simeon came to the temple to meet Jesus, peace and contentment were guaranteed.

All around us are people who could have that same peace and contentment if they could just meet Jesus As we see the crowds each day, we should be reminded to pray that the Holy Spirit will touch their hearts and make them want to see Jesus. They may be rushing around, but in their hearts they have a void waiting to be filled by the Messiah, the Lord Jesus

Let's Get Growing

Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
                                                                               -----2 Peter 3:18

Several years ago my interest in flowers had my home resembling a nursery. There's something about the presence of growing plants that I find very enjoyable. As I daily inspected their progress, i gained from my little green friends a new appreciation of the joy and necessity of the wonderful process of growth.

As Christian, we too are like plants. We should put down our roots, break up through the earth ,spread out our branches, and burst into blossom. Such a thriving condition, however, isn't always evident in our lives. It's so easy to become bored and listless in the bland routine of our daily activities. Often we just hand on and merely exist without moving steadily toward maturity and fruitfulness.

As such time we are at a spiritual standstill and must allow Jesus the 'Sun of Righteousness' to warm our hearts anew with his love. We must send our roots deep into the Word of God by medititing on it day and night. Then we will be like a fruitful tree planted by rivers of living water, and our branches will extend outward in an ever-increasing influence and witness. They will be filled with blossoms that reflect the beauty of righteous living.

If we've become dormant, let's get growing

名作家施以诺在<态度,决定了你的高度>一书中,他给了快乐HAPPY一个新的定义--Hope(盼望),Action(行动),Pray(祷告),Patience(忍耐),Yearn(渴慕)。

你未曾应许天色常蓝,人生的路途花香常漫;
神未曾应许我们不遇困难和试探,懊恼无虑;
神未曾应许前途是平坦的大路,任意驰骋;

He's Always Been Faithful

Morning by morning I wake up to find
The power and comfort of God's hand in mine
Season by season I watch Him, amazed
In awe of the mystery of His perfect ways
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always been faithful to me.

I can't remember a trial or a pain
He did not recycle to bring me gain
I can't remember one single regret
In serving God only, and trusting His hand
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always been faithful to me.

This is my anthem, this is my song
The theme of the stories I've heard for so long
God has been faithful, He will be again
His loving compassion, it knows no end
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always been faithful, He's always been faithful
He's always been faithful to me.

我不知明天将如何,每时刻安然度过;
我不为将来而忧虑,因我知主所应许;
许多事明天将临到,许多事难以明了;
我不知明天将如何,或遭遇贫苦饥饿;
我前程虽经历水火,或快乐或有灾祸;
许多事明天将临到,许多事难以明了;
